“For it is not knowing much, but realising and relishing things interiorly, that contents and satisfies the soul.”
Ignatius of Loyola, The Spiritual Exercises

There is a bounty of fruit that grows from regular practice of The Examen. I can honestly say it has transformed my prayer life and my inner world. And after 4 years of daily practice I am a relative beginner! There’s so much I could say about this beloved prayer but here’s the headlines;

  • It helps you grow in every kind of awareness. Awareness of God’s presence, awareness of your true self, awareness of your triumphs and your mistakes.

  • It helps grow your discernment.

  • It helps you to become more grateful.

  • Everything practiced in the prayer time begins to seep into your daily life. You begin to notice God, your own reactions and desires as you go about your day.

  • You begin to keep company with Jesus more and more.
